Black and White Dessert
Velvety black mission figs stuffed with fromage blanc from Bellwether Farms make a great dessert on a hot summer evening, sweet and savory in the same bite. Eaten on the deck with a view and a light breeze, it may not be heaven but you can see it from there.
It was easy, quick and pretty. All I did was halve the ripe, sweet figs and arrange them on a plate, spoon a generous amount of fromage blanc into a sandwich size plastic bag, cut off a tiny corner of the bag and twist, squeezing the cheese into the corner and out onto the figs.
Easy as falling off a log but I didn't tell My Beloved that.

I fell in love with fresh figs last year so I'm looking forward to hopefully finding them this weekend at the farmers market...I won't tell my husband how easy this is either!
Very pretty indeed.
Pretty and delicious but then, I love figs. I used to make a decadent fig pudding. In the interest of my waistline, I "lost" the recipe but I have found memories of scarfing down that glorious mixture with a scoop of ice cream. I also love figs in a smoothie. Put the yogurt in the freezer for an hour before you want your drink and puree in the fruit. If you want a desert type smoothie, puree a bit of cheese in with the yogurt and fruit. I'll bet a spoon of some fruit syrup or liquor would be good on top as well.
Heck, I have so many good ideas that are full of calories that I might as well try and find that recipe for fig pudding.
That looks so very good. Figs are fantastic (as a sweet or savoury dish) but so expensive around my way - I wish we had a friendly neighbourhood fig tree.
I have not got the date of your fling. I may be able to set you up with peppers any who!
Mrs. I, it'll be our little secret!
Dagny, thanks!
Nancy, all kinds of good ideas!
Morgan, it's only money.
Chilebrown, it's Sept. 28th (Sunday). Hope you can make it! It wouldn't be complete without you and Ms. Goofy!
Darn and Double Darn, Ms. Goofy and I will be in Arizona on the Salsa Trail. Maybe I can give you some peppers before we go. I will include the telephone number of the emergency ward.
Chilebrown, I'm disappointed, of course. Bummer! But I'm sure you'll have fun in 'Zona.
