Too Excited To Cook!
I know you are anxiously awaiting the outcome of the Martian Food Contest but I'm too excited to cook, much less to judge the contest. I have resorted to Niman Ranch hot dogs and B&M baked beans from a can for dinner this evening as we got home late-ish from the computer store. You see, I'm typing this on my brand new birthday present from My Beloved, a whiz-bang new laptop computer!It is subtly shiny aluminum, fast as lightning, pretty light as laptops go, and full of wonderful features I'm having fun discovering. It replaces my eight or nine year old iMac - they've made some serious strides since then!
I promise to get serious about judging the contest and will report the winner soon. In the meantime, "YAAAAAAY!! And, thank you, My Beloved!"

I bought a little 15" aluminum rig a year ago, darned fine little machine. It's like computing on Fine Art!

My Power Mac was seven years old when it got Alzheimer's. This new rig is so fab and so relatively cheap, I'm thinking "why not buy a new one every couple of years?" It's like buying a new printer when you run out of ink.

Biggles, mine's the 13" version and you're right, it's a little design marvel.
Cookiecrumb, I usually don't get a new computer until my old one gives up its ghost, so this purchase seems fantastically frivolous to me - but I can dig it!

Moonbear, get the beanie weenies - it will give you enough moral fortitude to march into the store and demand a new computer. I can recommend Marin Mac in San Rafael - good customer service and they don't cost any more than a regular Mac store.

Biggles, I already found out that video runs smoothly on this machine, unlike the old one, which only ran them in fits and starts! I'll have to try the Netflix thing now - woohoo!
