Pretty shave ice. Can't stand beans in dessert, though. They really gagged me out in Japan. Welcome home!

Cookiecrumb, this is the first time I had tried the beans in shave ice. It was interesting. Not sure I'd order them again, but I'm glad I tried. They were whole beans, but tiny.
Azuki Beans? Was it Matsumoto's? Aoki's? Waiola's?
Evil Empress, yes, azuki beans but on the Big Island this time. We had lunch at Haleiwa Joe's but didn't have time to stop at any of the places you mentioned. :-)
I'm with cookie, no beans in dessert for me...I always get my shave ice with vanilla ice cream. Aloha, zoomie!!
Hungry Dog, I haven't tried it with ice cream, yet. That's for my next trip to the Islands.
