Independence Day

I found this on Facebook a few days ago:

"Proud of Jimmy Carter for speaking truth to power today. As he reminds us again and again: "America did not invent human rights. In a very real sense human rights invented America... Human rights is the soul of our foreign policy, because human rights is the very soul of our sense of nationhood." Keep talking until we get it, Mr. President."

Amen to that.

I always thought Jimmy got a bad deal. He came in with a vision and a heart of gold. They squashed him for it and called him weak. Live long and prosper Mr. Carter and thank you Zoomie for reminding me, Cheers>

Toons, me, too. But he didn't let it get him down - he has been a strong force for human rights ever since he left office. His is a strong legacy.
